Let the Predictions Begin

We are only a couple of weeks away from our big ultrasound where we will finally be able to find out the gender of Little Bit (assuming he/she cooperates!)  With the day drawing near, I'm starting to get a lot of predictions from friends and family.  I would love to hear what everyone thinks the baby will be, so feel free to leave a comment with your prediction!

Last night, we took an ultra-scientific route of finding out the baby's gender...The Drano Test. Ha!  If you haven't heard of this test, it involves mixing Drano crystals with mommy's urine to see what reaction you get.  If the liquid stays blue, it's a girl.  If the liquid turns brown, it's a boy.  Our good friend Ashley has become a professional administrator of this test, so we let her work her magic last night.  We got a crazy chemical reaction, which you will notice from the smoke below.

Matt says this test only proves that I have radioactive pee. :)  (Don't worry, mommy stayed far away from the smoking test and fumes!)  The chemical reaction was crazy, it actually boiled and got really hot, something Ashley said she had never seen!

And then...the results were in.

BLUE IT IS.  Mr. Drano would say it's a girl! (Kinda looks like a slushy to me...yum!) Should we all run out and buy pink things now?!

Matt and I aren't rushing out to purchase paint for the nursery, but it was fun to see the results.  Ashley has a 100% accuracy rate thus far, so we'll see in a few weeks if the Drano test stands up.

The girls also put me through the riggor of lots of wives tale questions that are supposed to predict the sex of the baby.  After a series of 11 questions, 8 of the old wives would still predict a girl...we shall see!

I've definitely been thinking it's a girl for the past 2 or 3 weeks, although I spent the entire time before that calling the baby a "he."  Matt is still sticking with a boy for his prediction, for now...because nothing has convinced him otherwise.  Let's hear what you guys think!

PS - Bonus belly shots from the last two weeks.

  1. Bob and I are thinking girl but we have no scientific reason for that.
